Morpheous 8

What is Morpheus8? Morpheus8 is a non-surgical advanced needling treatment. When we age, our skin begins to lose elasticity, with wrinkles, lines, and sagging appearing. Using radiofrequency, a Morpheus8 treatment stimulates collagen production to tighten and smooth wrinkles on the face and body. Morpheus8 comfortably penetrates the skin at a deeper level than other needling treatments, transforming your complexion and restoring more youthful facial skin.

How does Morpheus8 work? Morpheus8 combines radio frequency technology, needling, and fractional treatments to address a variety of skincare problems. Tiny needles penetrate the skin and heat the tissue to stimulate the production of collagen. What makes Morpheus8 different than other  needling treatments is the depth the needles penetrate the skin. It is the only treatment that can mold fat under the skin to obtain optimal results. Contouring and refining the subdermal layers will enable a more detailed approach to sculpt the face naturally.

What are the benefits of Morpheus8? Morpheus8 allows you to experience the benefits without the need for incisions. These benefits include:

  • Increased collagen production

  • Quicker results

  • Minimizes scars from acne

  • Reduce wrinkles

  • Fade stretch marks

  • Shorter treatment time

  • No downtime

How long does the procedure take? The length of the treatment can depend on the individual’s needs. Typically, you will only need 30 to 60 minutes to complete the process. You will also need time for numbing cream to take effect.

What areas can be treated? Morpheus8 is versatile. It can be used on any area of the body that can benefit from collagen renewal. The most common areas include the lower face and neck. Areas with challenges such as acne scarring or discoloration can also be treated with Morpheus8.

Is it Painful? Morpheus8 is performed in Dr. McClellan's office in Morgantown. The procedure is relatively painless even with the deeper penetration of needles. The needles used are very sharp and fine, allowing the benefit of puncturing your skin without the feeling of any tugging or pulling. To ensure your comfort, a topical cream will be applied to the treatment area. When the procedure begins, you might feel a slight prickling sensation followed by a feeling of warmth as the needles pass over your skin. The advanced technology of Morpheus8 provides controlled and consistent heat delivery allowing for uniform treatment and results.

What's recovery like afterward? Morpheus8 is a non-invasive procedure so there really will not be any need for downtime or recovery. Most people return to work the day after their treatment. Post-treatment, you may see a bit of pinpoint bleeding from the needles. This should only last for a few minutes. Your skin will be red and feel hot like it is a bit sunburned for up to one week. Swelling around the treated areas is also a minor concern but should be resolved within a day or two. A good moisturizer and a broad-spectrum sunscreen are recommended.

What happens after a Morpheus8 treatment? This is the fun part! After being treated with Morpheus8, your skin will be refreshed, revitalized and enhanced. Over the course of several weeks, new layers of collagen will begin to plump and volumize depleted skin contours, firming up your complexion so it appears more youthful and smooth. The skin’s overall tone and texture will be superior to that which you began treatment with, and a subtle lift with minimized skin laxity will begin to appear. It’s recommended that you undergo a series of treatments with Morpheus8 to experience full, comprehensive benefits.

IPL Intense pulsed light Dr. McClellan

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

What is IPL? Intense Pulsed Light or IPL Skin Rejuvenation is indicated for the cosmetic reduction of sun-induced skin damage and aging, including superficial pigmentation (brown spots), telangectasias (broken blood vessels). IPL can also be used to improve Acne and reduce facial redness.  Practically any area can be treated, including face, neck, chest, back and hands.

How does it work? The laser works by converting light energy from the IPL to heat the treated area. This heat stimulates the formation of collagen and elastin which tightens the skin, lightens pigmentation, reduces broken blood vessels, and ultimately – after a series of treatments – improves overall skin tone, texture, and appearance.

What can I expect? Photofacials are a safe and gentle alternative that tend to produce gradual improvements over a brief series of treatments. This is an ideal option for those whose busy lives will not allow for significant “down time”. The treatment is also an excellent choice for those with healthy looking skin who simply want to maintain their appearance with a minimal risk treatment that produces nice results. Intense pulsed light (IPL) devices are used to improve the appearance of the skin by gradually reducing unwanted pigmentation and redness (vascularity) through a series of non-invasive treatments. Some patients also experience an improvement in overall skin tone and texture. IPL delivers light energy in short, gentle, adjustable pulses that minimize the risks of bruising or other problems while targeting unwanted skin pigment and redness. The device produces a broad band of light that is absorbed by a variety of color imperfections in the skin and helps encourage the body to remove them, resulting in skin that is more uniform and youthful appearing.

Hair Reduction Dr. McClellan

Hair Reduction

What is Hair Reduction treatment? Hair reduction is exactly what it seems – a removal or reduction of hair in the targeted area. We refer to the procedure as reduction rather than removal because the procedure permanently reduces the amount of hair, but does not permanently remove it.

How does Hair Reduction work? Bi-polar radio frequency and laser energy are combined and used to damage and disable the hair follicles from growing. There are different phases of hair growth and treating the hair at varying levels of growth allows the treatment to effectively reduce and remove hair from the targeted area.

Is this treatment safe? Hair reduction is one of the safest laser procedures available. Both laser and radio frequency energy have been used in the medical field for years without problems or issues.

Does the treatment hurt? The treatment is generally handled well by patients. As every patient is different, pain tolerance changes from patient to patient. Cooling the treatment area with an ice pack prior to the treatment as well as applying a topical anesthetic will allow you to be comfortable during the treatment.

What areas can I get the treatment? You may get the hair reduction treatment in a variety of locations including:

  • Upper Lip, Chin, Under Arms, Legs, Bikini areaBack, and the Chest

How many treatments will I need? With each treatment you will see a reduction in the amount of hair as well as a progressively lighter color and slower growth. Generally, it takes about 6 treatments in order to have a complete reduction in hair growth. This varies from patient to patient as different hair types require a different number of treatments. Each procedure is spaced out about 6 to 8 weeks. After you have completed a package of treatments you will be able to maintain your results by simply having a maintenance treatment once every several years, or as you notice the hair starting to grow back.

HydraFacial

What is HydraFacial? The Hydrafacial is a medical-grade resurfacing treatment that clears out your pores and hydrates your skin. It's offered by our licensed aesthetician Tonya in our office.  The four-step treatment includes cleansing, exfoliating, extracting, and hydrating the skin with serums that are infused into pores with the HydraPeel Tip, a pen-like device.

What happens in a HydraFacial? The HydraFacial treatment starts with cleansing by removing dead skin cells and excess sebum from the skin. Next, a mix of salicylic and glycolic acids is applied to the skin to break up any dirt and oil that's clogging pores. Then, the HydraPeel Tip is used to essentially vacuum out blackheads, dirt, oil, and impurities, while hydrating, plumping, and nourishing serums are simultaneously applied to the skin.

What are the benefits? A HydraFacial treatment can improve your skin in a ton of ways. Its many benefits include a more hydrated, bright, plump, and clear complexion. Plus, it can also improve signs of aging. The treatment reduces fine lines and wrinkles, increases firmness, evens tone, texture, and brown spots, as well as reduces enlarged pores.

Obagi Blue Peel

What is Obagi Blue Peel? The Obagi Blue Peel is a medium-depth chemical peel developed by Dr. Zein Obagi. It can be applied in 1 to 4 layers, depending on your needs, to deeply exfoliate your skin to renew its natural clarity and tightness. It can remove dyschromia (pigmentation problems), remove wrinkles and fine lines, acne scarring, and help reduce the signs of aging.

How does the Obagi Blue Peel work? The Obagi Blue Peel works by utilizing 15 to 20% TCA, or trichloracetic acid. TCA is a chemical that is commonly used in peels becuase of its efficiency in removing outer layers of skin. Because this peel is a medium-depth peel it penetrates the skin more deeply than alpha-hydroxy or beta-hydroxy acid peels. The peel is applied in layers which allows Tonya, our medical aesthetician, to make the peel personalized for your own unique needs.

Am I a candidate for an Obagi Blue Peel? Candidates for a Blue Peel are healthy adults that have been using the Obagi NuDerm products for at least 6-8 weeks. The Blue Peel is a medium-depth peel so it is for people that have more serious issues. It is best for you to come in for a free Skin Solutions consultation so that Tonya or Krystal can give you individual answers as to what they can offer you to help with your skin care needs.

How can the Obagi Blue Peel help me? The Obagi Blue Peel can benefit you in a variety of ways, here is a brief list of some of the advantages to this peel:

  • AcneAging skin, WrinklesFrecklesScarringAge spotsSun spotsSkin laxity

What areas can the blue peel be used on?

The Obagi Blue Peel is safe to use on your face, neck, hands, chest, and back.

Is the blue peel safe? The Obagi Blue Peel is safe, but is a more invasive procedure than other light peels and therefore should only be done by a trained physicain or aesthetician.

Will the peel hurt? There is some mild discomfort associated with the peel which is generally a burning or stinging sensation. Tonya or Krystal will place a fan blowing on your face so that you will remain as comfortable as possible during the treatment.

How many peels will I need? For many patients, one peel will give the desired results. Again, this is dependent on your individual problem areas and what your unique goals are. A second Obagi Blue Peel may be repeated 7 weeks after the first, and you may consider getting one done once a year to maintain its results.

How long does the blue peel take? You can expect to be in the office for about 30 minutes.

What type of recovery is associated with the Obagi Blue Peel? Your skin will have a bluish tint for the first 12 to 24 hours. In about 2 days your skin will begin to peel and will continue to do so for an average of 10 days. Depending on your profession, some patients opt to take time off to allow for their skin to heal and begin to look normal following a treatment. It is important for you to stay out of the sun as much as possible as your skin will be very vulnerable to sun damage with the outer layers of skin removed.

Botox Dysport Dr McClellan

Neurotoxins - Botox, Dysport

What is Neurotoxin?

A neurotoxin is an injectable that temporarily blocks nerve receptors in the muscle temporarily. Botox™ and Dysport™ have the same active ingredient that blocks the nerve receptors: botulinum toxin type A. In aesthetic medicine, these injectables prevent the formation and worsening of fine lines and wrinkles because they are injected directly into the muscle stopping all nerve impulses. This cosmetic treatment is the most popular nonsurgical procedure out there.

What will neurotoxin (Botox) help with? Neurotoxin is generally used to treat or prevent lines on the forehead, between the eyes, around the eyes, and frown lines. It can be used to treat and prevent lines on the neck as well.  Botox™ also has a component that can be used to treat and reduce symptoms of common medical conditions such as migraines, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), muscle tension disorders/spasms (i.e TMJ) and more.

How long will a neurotoxin last? Botox and Dysport are not permanent. It takes up to two weeks to see the full result of the Botox™ injection and lasts about 3 to 4 months to a year depending on a patient’s metabolism.

How much does it cost? The cost depends on the number of units injected and the area being treated. Jenna our master injector with help you build a treatment plan custom to your goals.
